Profile & Honors

Leah M. Hohenberger is a trial lawyer and consultant to businesses, individuals, and insurance companies. With over 15 years of trial experience, she is adept at assessing and presenting complex factual and legal issues to judges and juries. She concentrates her practice in the areas of transportation, toxic tort law, the food and beverage industry, medical liability, municipal law, product liability, and construction. Ms. Hohenberger is an effective advocate, having successfully negotiated complex business disputes, prosecuted appellate matters, and tried jury cases to defense verdicts. In 2008, she was invited by her peers to be the President of the Cleveland Association of Civil Trial Attorneys, and she is regularly invited to address legal education seminars and client conferences. She is also currently a member of the Catholic Lawyers Guild Executive Committee.

Ms. Hohenberger is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Ohio, as well as in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • Granted a directed verdict in favor of a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in a medical malpractice action
  • Successfully argued before the Court of Appeals to uphold the entry of summary judgment in favor of a large media corporation in a premises liability case
  • Achieved a defense verdict in a Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA) cumulative trauma trial wherein plaintiff sought damages in excess of a million dollars
  • Obtained a defense verdict for a railroad client in an FELA action, which was subsequently upheld by the Circuit Court of Appeals
  • Secured a defense award in a binding AAA construction arbitration involving a 25-home residential construction project and a plaintiff’s demand of approximately $900,000
  • Authored a winning motion for summary judgment on behalf of a hotel owner/operator in a premises liability/product liability matter
  • Obtained a defense verdict in a cumulative trauma FELA action wherein the plaintiff sought $1,400,000 in damages
  • Achieved a defense verdict in a jury trial involving 15 plaintiffs seeking statutory damages relative to flooding in a mobile home park community
  • Secured a defense verdict on behalf of a railroad client in an FELA case wherein plaintiff alleged that his work duties resulted in the development of carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Granted a favorable summary judgment ruling for a general residential contractor in a complex construction/premises liability matter
  • Granted summary judgment in cumulative trauma FELA claim, which was upheld by the Court of Appeals
